No, he's not going to be chilling in Cabinet meetings every morning. He's working under the secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development to lend his expertise on residential/commercial real estate matters in the southwest areas of the U.S. I'm not entirely sure what his job entails, since my mom called me at 3AM from Hawaii to inform me of this, and women make even less sense at that time, but he flies to Washington on Thursday.

I'm going to give him so much shit for this.

Pretty much my reaction when she told me this.

My dad has always been somewhat involved in local/state politics (behind the scenes, anyways) but I never figured he'd go to the federal level. I don't even know how they got in contact with him.

I'm guessing he was the 984th guy they called after the first 983 turned them down.

My parents just sold their old Hawaii house and bought a new one to live in for a few months of the year, and my mom was expecting to go on some world cruise for three months over the summer. Well now those plans are gone in favor of my dad working for the guy he curses every time the name is mentioned.

I think it's this health care deal that has doomed any hope I had in the Republican party. They're doing the same thing they accused the Dems of doing back in 2004, which is basically sitting their like a butthurt 4 year old with their arms crossed and a frown on their face. They're not offering any ideas to fix a broken system; they want to maintain the broken status quo.
