Has anyone else been following this? I've been keeping an eye on it, but I have to admit that theres alot I don't understand going on.

It appears like the person who lost the election is just screaming fraud because he wants to win, not because he actually thinks there was fraud. Was there actually any kind of fraud reported and I just haven't heard about it, or is my assumption correct?

The outcome of the election doesn't really concern me. I wonder how well the mexican democracy can hold up under such accusations, though. It seems like the whole country is about ready to fight it out in the streets.

Honestly, I think the guy who lost is simply power-hungry. He is actually talking about pretending he's his own government, and collecting taxes/etc, like he was his own shadow government. Thats sheer lunacy. Then how long before he decides he doesn't like sharing the country and starts a rebellion? I mean, when you get down to the core of the issue, the guy is making statements that border on treason.

Its a situation to keep our eyes on atleast.

The guy that lost is essentially a commmunist so i wouldn't put a rebellion past him

I vote for the Mexican Chicas. Down around Tubbs and Thangs neck of the woods you just trip over fine ones walking down the street.

The stupid thing is though, the President-elect doesn't actually become President until December- that is just asking for trouble

That's a pretty standard practice in democracies to allow for a smoother transition of executive power. Whether that happens or not is another story though.

Oh yeah, but six months. That is ridiculous, you have a President with no legitimacy running the Country with little authority and impetus. It should be more like the US where the inauguration is what, nine weeks after the election

Mexico isn't exactly the poster child of expediency or efficiency though either.

Honestly though I think the benefits of a slow moving government outweigh the benefits of a fast moving government in that as legislation takes longer to push through and more time is taken to reach an outcome more thought can be put into it. Who knows, maybe the Mexican government will invite the UN or some other organization to monitor a reelection in the meantime to help settle the dispute.... or something along those lines anyways.

LOL. I was just reading the paper and saw what could be the most hypocritical quote of all time...

Manuel Lopez Obrador said, and I quote:
I do not recognize someone who tries to act as chief federal executive without having legitimate and democratic representation

This is coming from the person who is completely disregarding the election results because he didn't like the outcome, and is now threatening to create a shadow government against the will of the voting majority.

I wonder if he understands the dangerous situation he is creating?
