Britain says attack expected imminently (http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=topNews&storyid=2006-08-10T060823Z_01_L10254208_RTRUKOC_0_US-SECURITY-BRITAIN-THREAT.xml&src=rss)

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain raised its security threat level to "critical" on Thursday, which means it expects an attack imminently, after a police said they had foiled a plot to blow up aircraft.
The Home Office Web Site showed the rating had been raised to "critical" from "severe" earlier on Thursday. Britain has a five level rating for security threats, ranging from low to critical, which is the highest level.

This is getting beyond crazy.

Apparently they made 21 arrests, of a potential 50+ that were hoping to take out between 8 and 10 flights from GB to the US.

And it's looking a lot like August 22nd, a major Shiite Muslim holy day, might be what this is all about.

Of course that's just my take on what I've heard, but yikes.

It's nasty man.

They arrested 2 dudes in their 20s here who were driving around Ohio with a plotted map of Walmarts, 600 pay-as-you-go cell phones, and $11,000.00 in cash.

They apperently buy the phones from Walmart, remove some chip, then huck the phone and send the chips to their "boss" who stock piles them for use in personal bombs.

On the good side is that we have probably the best intelligence and surveillance services in the World who can detect this happening, all over the World people today are talking about how bad and grave this plot was, and this was something that the British authorities put a stop to- let alone if it had gone ahead un-detected- the consensus from sources here is that 10-12 planes were thought to be involved heading to US destinations using the airlines: Continental, American Airlines, United Airways, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways. This was braking here in the early hours this morning and it was said that the planes were to be brought down mid-air, though now the off-the-record sources are saying it was believed they'd be brought down over cities.

On the bad side however, like last July, all suspects are British nationals. The United Kingdom has a population of Pakistani origin of around 3million. The current Govt has basically marginalised patriotism which has led to other influences taking a hold. It is bad enough that the Welsh and the Scots hate the Queen and England, though a huge proportion of Britain's muslim population has been brainwashed by islamic fundamentalism, the Govt allows rallies to take place in London Streets saying down with Britain and death to London etc. etc. Obviously Afghanistan and Iraq has played a major role in that seduction. Just to give an idea of how radical many of these people are, an ICM/Guardian poll (Britain's answer to a gallup poll) released in February quizzing the muslim population, 2 in 10 thought it was right to use violence against the state. Even worse, 6 in 10 wanted sharia law imposed in British Cities.

I've always said Britain's biggest enemy is the enemy within.

Seriously though, something smells fishy about this. I've read enough stay the course rhetoric in regards to a few recent political happenings saying something just like this would happen. I really don't belive our politicians are actually prophetic.

On the other hand, I can't complain too much that planes were prevented from being crashed into cities. The thing that sets me at unease, even with all the new security measures anyone who was smart and had a bit of cash would have no problem going undetected into a plane to take it down.

There's nothing prophetic about it.

It's a precaution, not an end-time prediction.
The Muslims may well feel it's a condition of Armageddon though, hence the attention given to it.
