View Full Version : where in fucking hell do you go to read fucking shit?
i would like to read up on current events, but i've never seen a website that has an article like "this is why those guys are fighting in the middle east." it's all just a bunch of little stories about a city being bombed or something. so, i would like to know where you go to get shit like that. i think that's why i never go into politics. i've never seen a nice, easy to read overview to at least get me a little interested first. there's so much dicking around and i'm just like "fuck it, i'm watching boy meets world."
TheZenMan 07-28-2006, 08:28 PM Talk to people.
Lots of people, find some sources of wisdom.
If not, scan the various forms of radio out there.
TV is not a place of integrity.
i would prefer a website where you can pick any event you want like the iraq war or whatever the hell's going on right now, and it'll give you a bunch of reading to fill you in on why people are fighting and all that other crap.
TheZenMan 07-28-2006, 08:40 PM Hmm.
Try not to have preferences.
They just slow things down.
man, it's so much easier to just read though
i want a website where people are trained to just give the hard facts. like a social studies book. then, i'll derive my own opinion based on the facts. if i ask an ordinary person, then i'm afraid that i'm going to get a bias opinion and mistake it as a fact. for example:
me: so what is the background behind this whole israel deal?
person: well, those muslim bastards are doing this and that
me: thank you douche bag
that's what i've been trying to say. i want a website that's like a social studies book.

good luck with that. even if a website claims to give you "just the facts" how would you know that they were doing just that. its very hard for a person to write an article without some of the personal bias coming through. They may not even intend to let it out, but it will show even if it is just in the language that they use to describe an event. That is why you need to look at as many sources as you can for information. Take all of the info that you gather and come to your own conclusions.

they blow themselves up because they think they will be fucking virgins in the afterlife. It's a funny thing, what religion can do.
cursed74 07-28-2006, 11:01 PM you don't have to be religious to be a lunatic
Unreal Player 07-28-2006, 11:03 PM true, i'm just saying it helps in a lot of situations

when the right people are manipulating the situation

yeah i mean leaders do manipulate people using religion. Like george bush said God told im to invade Iraq.

I was going to say basically that.
Honestly though, it's not really bad to see bias in some things because that in and of itself helps it to be a more complete story when one can invest a bit of themselves in it as well. Without bias of some sort, it is my opinion that none of us would have an idea why there are problems in the first place.
cursed74 07-28-2006, 11:11 PM it also takes people who are willing to be manipulated

just make sure that you read about an event from several sources so that you aren't just getting one person's bias
